Throughout my life I have always worked in one form of art design or another. First I worked as a general illustrator for many companies, eventually moving on to medical illustrating for UC Davis-Sacramento Medical Center. My family then moved to Santa Cruz and I opened my own business designing and programming embellishments for garments. After a few years I was creating designs for many organizations and businesses. I surprised myself by ending up on the front page of the Santa Cruz Sentinel Business section as a featured local artist and business working on the 2002 Winter Olympics. After about 8 years, I accepted a job working for a ladies clothing Design Company called St John Knits. I was an embellishment designer for them for another 8 years. I loved that work, but eventually I had the space to indulge myself in the one art form I had always loved, glass. I now was able to create designs from my own heart and imagination. I was no longer trying to create someone else’s vision, but my own. My fascination with glass started early in my life. I have always loved the sparkle and light that comes from a beautifully crafted glass piece. It can be something as small as a snowflake or icicle on a Christmas tree, to a much larger complex vase or bowl. I love this medium more than any I ever worked in.
